Euclase

While Euclase forms crystals that occasionally have enough
clarity to be cut as gems, its cleavage is a potential problem for gem cutters
who must display great care to avoid splitting an unfinished gem. However,
a skilled gem cutter can work Euclase to its own advantage and create a real
treasure when a specimen sports well-formed crystals and great color. |

Euclase is typically found in granitic pegmatites with
other gem minerals. However, Euclase that has been weathered from its source
rock and transported down stream can also be found in alluvial gold deposits.

Euclase is mined in Brazil, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Tanzania,
Russia, Germany and Columbia. |

While Rutile is attractive in its own right, it is arguably
more interesting when it appears as inclusions in other gemstones where it
creates striking light effects. |
